The month of October always reminds me of when I first set out to publish Little Voice.
Two years ago, I was looking for the inspiration and motivation to set me on the path I am now fortunate enough to be on today. I never would have imagined that I would have transformed the same inspirational poem that got me chasing my dreams into a children’s book that would encourage others to chase their own.
Almost a year later since we officially released Little Voice on December 2, 2014 … I am overwhelmed by how many lives my story has been able to touch, and more importantly, thankful for all the support I have received to get me here today.
Thanksgiving reminds us to be thankful for our family and friends but also for the small accomplishments that make up the sum of our lives, the memories that shape who we are and yes, even the difficult times that have allowed us to evolve into who we needed to become.
After only 10 months of releasing Little Voice, we are very excited to invite you to join us at our special weekend long event hosted by Indigo, Chapters and Coles for the release of La petite voix!
Join us Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27 from12:00pm to 4:00pm at the Chapters Gloucester location in Ottawa for your chance to meet Little Voice’s author Amanda Bernardo and illustrator Samantha Clusiau-Lawlor!
BUT WAIT … that’s not all!
Like many entrepreneurs, Little Voice’s author and illustrator both work full time while pursuing their dream of sharing their story and message!
“Sometimes it’s hard when all you want to do is come home and take a nap but know you have a million other things that need your attention. Our little voices definitely help keep us motivated in achieving our dreams; though we work day and night to achieve our success, we wouldn’t have it any other way! The moment we see someone post our book or send us a message about how inspired they were is the moment we realize all our hard work has been worth it! We eventually become more determined and inspired to keep on working so that we may continue to share our message with others!” – Amanda Bernardo, Author
On top of running the Little Voice’s publication AND their day jobs, Amanda and Samantha also make sure to give back to their communities!
“We volunteer as often as we can, whether it be by promoting local causes or organizations, volunteering, raising awareness or simply making donations; giving back to our community is at the forefront of Little Voice.” – Samantha Clusiau-Lawlor, Illustrator
Amanda and Samantha developed the Little Voice Forget Me Not Project to raise awareness and funds in support of the Alzheimer Society of Canada and the Alzheimer Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County. They also give back through their #30BooksFundraiser and by volunteering their time at local schools and organizations!
It was only natural that their hard work ethic and passion to give back led them to work with this year’s GCWCC Campaign.
Today we celebrate the newest addition to the Little Voice family, our first ever Reading Companion!

Little Voice joined the set of Roger’s Daytime Ottawa with host Derek Fage and co-host Jasmin Rose!
What a wonderful experience it was to join the set of Daytime Ottawa!
The cameras were rolling, the guests were waiting and the set director soon after counted down as we prepared to chat live!
We felt right at ease with Derick and Jasmin who, along with all of you at home, got to learn more about the inspiration, background and future projects for Little Voice!
Unfortunately, we ran out of time before we had the chance to share the winner of our contest! However, shortly after, we did make use of the Daytime Ottawa set one last time to announce our winner!
Congratulations to Lucy from Twitter! A copy of Little Voice will be arriving in your mailbox soon!
A BIG thank you to all those who shared and tweeted for our giveaway! Stay tuned for our next contest announcement, coming very very soon!
